Jay a249
copper tube, bicycle parts, hardware, bronze, enamel
Jay is the first in the Neutrino-Class Astrobot Line. In fact, he was originally created only as an experiment, and didn’t even have a name: he was referred to simply as ‘robot 249’. I made him because I wanted a companion I could more easily carry around in my bag or my pocket. I took him to on a trip to Salem, occasionally posting Instagram photos hash-tagged #robot249. I almost left him at the train station once. It was only until after the trip I decided to name him–but stamping the letters into his back would dent the unsupportable pipe wall, so I went back to my earlier practice of signing by hand and electric engraver.
I find the deep blue and gold do a beautiful job bringing out Jay’s copper body.
