Isis j194
Isis is one of my all-time favorite Astrobots. Her head is a bearing that I’ve never seen before, and I was so excited when that part finally found it’s place after sitting in a coffee can waiting for inspiration to strike. However, Isis’ best feature are her articulated copper wings made from refrigerator tubing. Each tip of copper feather is capped with a ball bearing welded on with silicon bronze.
The wings are extremely pose-able thanks to a discovery of an old cutting tool I was using: once I discovered the handles folded out for extra leverage, the tool became too hard to pass up to become something beautiful.
Originally the wings were made for a much larger robot. Sometimes robots just don’t work out to completion, and are reassembled in new ways.
